Mixed Bed Resins

Overview

Duvera offers Thermax Tulsion® Mixed Bed Resins, pre-mixed combinations of high-purity cation and anion exchange resins designed for final polishing and ultrapure water production. These resins deliver near-zero conductivity and low silica levels, making them essential for high-purity applications such as power generation, semiconductor manufacturing, and laboratory-grade deionization. Each Tulsion® mixed bed resin is precisely formulated for balanced exchange capacity, consistent output quality, and long operational life.

Key Features

Tulsion® Mixed Bed Resins are pre-mixed in controlled proportions of strong acid cation (H⁺ form) and strong base anion (OH⁻ form) resins, ensuring optimal ion balance for consistent conductivity reduction. The resins are manufactured with high bead integrity and minimal fines, ensuring uniform flow and excellent backwash characteristics. Each batch undergoes strict quality checks for conductivity leakage, silica slippage, and total organic carbon (TOC), guaranteeing reproducible ultrapure water output. Available in both gel and macroporous structures, Tulsion® MB resins are suitable for regeneration, non-regeneration, and single-use systems.

Applications

Mixed bed resins are used as final polishing units following primary demineralization to achieve conductivity below 0.1 µS/cm and silica levels below 0.01 ppm. They are extensively applied in power plant condensate polishing, microelectronics, pharmaceutical production, laboratory water purification, and nuclear-grade systems. In smaller installations, they serve as standalone polishing units for laboratory and process use, providing consistent and high-purity water quality.

Specifications

Tulsion® MB resins include popular grades such as MB-104, MB-106, MB-108, and MB-115, each optimized for specific ionic balance and conductivity control. The cation component is typically a sulfonated polystyrene–DVB resin in H⁺ form, while the anion component is a quaternary ammonium-type polystyrene–DVB resin in OH⁻ form. The mix ratio is controlled between 40:60 to 50:50 (cation:anion) depending on application. Typical exchange capacities range from 1.8 to 2.0 meq/mL, with moisture content between 45% and 60%. Operating pH ranges from 0 to 14, and service temperature limits are up to 60°C. The resins are supplied in 25 L or 50 L HDPE bags or pre-packed cartridges for laboratory use.
