Overview
Duvera’s Glass Filter Media represents the next generation of water filtration technology. Manufactured from virgin, high-purity glass, it is specifically engineered for safe and efficient use in human consumption, industrial, and municipal water treatment. With controlled grain sizing and advanced processing, we deliver higher filtration quality, longer media life, and reduced operating costs compared to traditional silica sand.
Key Features
Our glass media is free of biofilm and contaminants, ensuring hygienic operation and consistent water quality. Its Anti-Compaction Technology® prevents caking and channeling, allowing uniform flow through the filter bed. With a smooth, micro-polished grain surface, the media is safe to handle and minimizes sharp edges. Unlike silica sand that requires multiple layers, our GFM achieves full performance with a single calibrated layer. The extreme durability of the media means it can be removed and reused without loss of effectiveness.
Applications
Glass media is widely used in municipal waterworks, industrial pretreatment plants, swimming pools, desalination pre-filters, aquaculture systems, and tertiary treatment processes. It serves as a direct replacement for silica sand in pressure and gravity filters, providing improved turbidity removal, lower backwash frequency, and reduced energy and chemical demand.
Specifications
Our glass filter media is manufactured from controlled virgin glass sources, ensuring purity and safety for drinking water and industrial use. The angular, micro-polished granules maintain open microchannels within the filter bed, preventing compaction and channeling while reducing head loss. With a precisely calibrated grain curve, the media delivers stable hydraulic performance at high flow rates and requires only a single uniform layer, unlike silica sand which needs multiple graded layers.
Its Anti-Compaction Technology® gives it an indefinite lifespan and allows safe reuse if removed from the filter. Compared to silica sand, GFM requires approximately 20% less volume to achieve equivalent performance, and its smooth edges make it safe to handle during installation or maintenance.
Certified to international water treatment standards, the media resists biofilm formation, tolerates chlorine and chemical cleaning, and consistently produces filtrate with turbidity below 0.5 NTU across diverse applications
