Chelating & Special Grade Resins

Overview

Duvera offers Thermax Tulsion® Chelating and Special Grade Resins, designed for selective removal and recovery of specific dissolved metals, contaminants, and organic molecules from process streams. Unlike conventional ion exchange resins, these specialized products contain functional groups that exhibit high affinity and selectivity for target ions such as heavy metals, transition elements, fluoride, boron, and organic color compounds. Tulsion® chelating and special resins are engineered to provide exceptional selectivity, durability, and regeneration efficiency, making them ideal for industrial, environmental, and process-critical applications.

Key Features

Tulsion® Chelating Resins are based on advanced polymer matrices with selective functional groups such as iminodiacetic acid, aminophosphonic acid, thiol, or hydroxamic acid, tailored to bind specific metal ions with high stability constants. This results in efficient removal of trace contaminants like copper, nickel, cobalt, zinc, and iron even in the presence of competing ions. The resins exhibit excellent mechanical strength, high metal loading capacity, and rapid kinetics, ensuring superior performance in both batch and column operations. The Special Grade series includes resins designed for fluoride removal, brine purification, sugar decolorization, and organic deionization — each formulated for optimal chemical compatibility and selectivity.

Applications

Chelating and special grade resins are used in metal recovery and wastewater treatment, hydrometallurgy, mining effluent polishing, battery recycling, and electroplating rinse purification. They are also widely applied in the chemical and food industries for sugar de-ashing, organic color removal, and deionization of process streams. Fluoride and boron removal resins are used in drinking water treatment, semiconductor, and glass industries. These resins play a vital role in achieving compliance with discharge standards and recovering valuable metals from industrial waste streams.

Specifications

The Tulsion® Chelating and Special Resin range includes grades such as CH-90, CH-95, CH-96, T-4213 Mp, and A-72 Mp, among others. Typical moisture content ranges from 45% to 55%, with particle size between 0.3–1.2 mm depending on grade. Operating pH range extends from 1 to 12, and maximum operating temperature is 120°C. Metal uptake capacities vary between 1.0–2.5 meq/mL, depending on target ion and process conditions. These resins are available in gel and macroporous forms and supplied in 25 L or 50 L HDPE bags. All grades are regenerable using standard acid or base solutions and exhibit long operational life under continuous service.
